Common Questions

What is my public IP address?

Your public IP is the address your internet provider assigns to your connection. It's visible to any website you visit and used to route internet traffic to your device. It's different from your local/private IP (like 192.168.x.x) which only works within your home network.

Does my IP address reveal my home address?

No — your IP reveals your approximate city or region and your internet service provider, but not your physical street address. Law enforcement can request more specific location data from your ISP, but a regular website can't pinpoint your home.

Why does my IP address change?

Most home internet connections use dynamic IPs, which your ISP rotates periodically. A static IP stays fixed and is typically available as a paid upgrade from your ISP.
