Submit to Google Search Console

Common Questions

How many URLs can a sitemap have?

A single XML sitemap can contain up to 50,000 URLs and must not exceed 50MB uncompressed. If you have more, use a sitemap index file linking to multiple sitemaps.

Should I include every page on my site in the sitemap?

No — only include pages you want indexed. Leave out thin pages, duplicate content, noindex pages, login/admin pages, and thank-you pages.

How often should I update my sitemap?

Update it whenever you publish or remove pages. If you're using a CMS like WordPress, a plugin can do this automatically. For static sites, regenerate whenever your page structure changes.
